Sometimes I don’t actually want things to get quiet.
Because when everything slows down—when the noise fades and the distractions aren’t there to hide behind—it can feel… loud. Not on the outside, but on the inside. The thoughts I’ve been avoiding. The questions I’ve been pushing off. The feelings I’ve been too busy to sit with.
Stillness has a way of bringing all of that to the surface.
And if I’m being really honest? I’d rather keep moving than deal with what might come up in the quiet.
But here’s what I’m slowly learning…
God isn’t waiting for me in the chaos.
He meets me in the stillness.
Not to overwhelm me—but to gently remind me that I’m not alone in any of it.
In the quiet, I’ve started to notice something I used to miss:
His presence doesn’t compete for attention. It whispers.
It’s not always a big, life-changing moment. Sometimes it’s just a small sense of peace. A shift in perspective. A reminder that I don’t have to carry everything on my own.
“The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” — Exodus 14:14
Stillness may feel loud… but it’s also where His voice becomes clear.
So if today feels a little too quiet for comfort, you’re not doing it wrong. You’re just in a place where God can meet you in a deeper way than you expected.
And maybe—just maybe—that’s exactly what your heart has been needing.
Reflection:
What thoughts or feelings keep rising to the surface lately?
What might it look like to trust that He is present… even in the silence?
